Maninjau Lake West Sumatra, is one of the most splendid lakes in Indonesia. This volcanic lake is situated more or less 461 meters above sea level. This lake, 100 m2 in size with the maximum depth of 500 meters, is associated with a legend. It is said that from the local folklore called "Bujang Sembilan" (roughly translates as "Nine Young Men"), one of these men died by plunging himself to the crater. The crater then expanded, forming a lake.
A winding road with 44 sharp turns descends to Maninjau Lake, 36 km from Bukittinggi. A crater lake abounds with fish. There are also facilities for swimming and water skying. Matur village, overlooking lakes, arranges dance performances on request. To the west of Bukittinggi, Meninjau Lake is a Crater Lake renowned for its scenery and remote beauty. Visitors can rent canoes and motorboat at the lakeshore.
A view of Lembah Anai Water Fall found in West Sumatera Province - Indonesia. It is located in Lembah Anai area on the way towards padang Panjang, about 2.5 hrs drive upwards from Padang city. Its location that exactly beside the road, make this waterfall can attract tourists.The source of Lembah Anai waterfall coming from Singgalang Mountain. The clear water flows through the hill to the slope of mountain and then goes to the Lembah Anai Waterfall before goes to the steeply sloping mountain side. From this steeply sloping mountain side , water goes to the dale with the height around 50 metres and create the cauldron where the water fall in.On the way to the waterfall, people will find a good scenery. Besides the road, people will see valley and hill with various tree. Monkeys drift from one place to another looks like welcoming the tourists. Near the location tourists can find small shop that sell various foods and beverages, and also special gift from West Sumatra.
Three Stage Waterfall (Air Terjun Tigo Tingkek) is located in Koto Lubuk Hitam Village, Teluk Kabung. 25 Km in the north of Padang City with the height 600 m above the sea level. According to the name, this waterfall has three stage of waterfall. Community in there calls it Lubuk Hitam.
